“The Rottenest City on the Pacific Coast”

“The Rottenest City on the Pacific Coast”

Declared then Alameda County District Attorney Earl Warren referring to Emeryville’s reputation at the time (Warren went on to become California governor and then Chief Justice of the United States). During the Depression Era, Emeryville was jammed with gambling houses, speakeasies, racetracks and brothels and became known as a somewhat lawless center for entertainment. Emeryville resisted any attempts at rehabilitation throughout the decades, not building its first church until the 1960’s. Today we honor E’ville’s seedy past in the name of our establishment with a more acceptable vice: PIZZA ADDICTION

Rotten City Pizza

Before there was Rotten City Pizza, there was “the Rottenest City on the Pacific Coast.” The lawlessness that gave Emery its nickname gave us some inspiration: let's open up a pizza shop that refuses to conform. Our crew of creative pizza chefs sources toppings locally and organically when they can, and puts a whole lot of New York expertise into the pies they bake. The result? A simple product made up of flavors as rich as the history of E’ville. Check out our dining hall, outdoor garden, or game room, and raise a glass to the Rottenest City with the best pizza.
